Let's face it - Singapore is a nation of malls.
But the outlook of malls in Singapore is diverse. Post-pandemic, data-driven, conscious consumption - what does all this mean for Singapore's aging malls?
Our research presents a new way of thinking about Singapore’s existing malls and imagines their possible futures. With a surprising majority of malls in Singapore being strata titled or owned by HDB, we ask the critical question of “what do we do with our ageing malls?” The stereotypical dilapidated strata mall and the modest neighbourhood mall are the subject of our inquiry.
Trace our thoughts about Singapore's older and ordinary malls through this site.
Reconceiving the Future of Malls in Singapore is a research project initiated by Spatial Anatomy under the Good Design Research Programme commissioned by Design Singapore Council.
